Dust diseases covered by us
You may be able to get compensation, treatment and support if you've been diagnosed with a work-related dust disease in NSW.
Ninety-five per cent of dust diseases we cover are asbestos-related however there are others.
Dust diseases we cover include:
- Asbestos induced carcinoma
- Asbestos related pleural disease (ARPD)
- Coal dust pneumoconiosis*
- Farmers' Lung
- Hard Metal Pneumoconiosis
We may also cover other diseases affecting the lungs, pleura or peritoneum. However, these conditions must be related to an exposure to dust that leads to one of the diseases listed above.
Further information on dust and other construction health risks can be found on the SafeWork NSW website.
*The Dust Diseases Care scheme does not cover individuals who worked in or around a mine. Further information about worker’s compensation for coal miners can be found on the Coal Miners Insurance website.
